Truly WTF Festival

Where’s The Food festival held at Frere Hall Karachi, is a mad cat out of the sack. The festival is hosted second time, at the same location, yet no lessons were learned. Almost all roads leading to the festival were jam packed, forming uncountable queues of cars. The road to entrance facing PACC was closed from near the Metropole turn hence making it all the more chaotic. No thoughts or planning to manage the rush of food lovers was done, no alternate traffic plans were introduced. Even the place ran out of parking areas and was quite a mismanaged and helpless site. Not to forget the valet service also couldn’t help the overload of visitors and were in a chaotic situation too.

Talk about the “We are sold” food kiosks. Most participating eateries ran out of stock too early! Others still serving had a compromised menu and long queues of hungry Karachiites.

Where’s The Food festival stops making sense to you when one buys a rs. 200 entry pass, WHICH IS NOT REDEEMABLE! All serving eateries have lesser than usual price quotes but with compromised quantities and taste!

Whats good in there for consumers when they are still paying high with that much of quantity! Yes making fool out of commoners is a game well played here!

I’d also mention the people who turn out in huge numbers to such festivals with zero tolerance and a twisted sense of respect for others! It wasn’t less than a fish market there!

10 thumbs down for a disorganised, full of hassle and a wasted food festival that is doing no good except for pulling money out of Karachiites pockets.

REALLY WHAT THE F***.

  1. I’m so glad I went to Ocean Grill at the last moment rather than wasting my time and money at the festival!

  2. Me and my friend were roaming around the city the other day, enjoying the street food and we were like, Karachi Eat? Please! This is Karachi, and this is us eating in Karachi β€” hence, Karachi Eat, minus the hipsterdom.

  3. I would totally second the compromised quantity and quality part! Pretty sad. Seriously i thought i was the only one with confused taste buds, while everyone else was all praises for the food there.
What’s wrong with these bakeries/eateries…don’t they want the customer to remember them and come back to them?!

  4. interestingly written article, but not entirely true. There may be varying experience of the same thing.

You have pointed out a certain things, very well, like the entrance fee (& tht not being redeemable), the parking chaos, the road closure, the out of stock eateries, etc . . . . But there are quite a few things, which were a little over exaggerated (in my point of view)
The tolerance of people, I have personally witnessed respect for others. Young guys and girls giving away chairs to elderly people, like people helping random strangers in choosing food out of the variety, like people helping each other out, listening to ‘Thank you’s, . . . .

It was overall a decent event, just some bad things here and there. But, it was indeed a good time pass wid amazing ambience, nice winter breeze, and good (limited) food (a lil expensive) but good time out wid yur family, in these much needed halaats of the city.

P.S: I am not defending the WTF event, its just my experinece, I have no association wid either the organizers or the food eateries, present there.

    Thank you.
